MASTER MPS UPS 10-800kVA


An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for the power protection of corporate wide and large network applications.
Master MPS provides maximum protection for vital ‘mission-critical' networks, security applications (electro-medical) and industrial applications thanks to its outstanding mechanical and electrical design. The UPS has an extremely outstanding mechanical and electrical design: isolation transformer on the inverter, high short-circuit current and sinusoidal absorption with low THDi.
Master MPS is also available in industrial 220Vdc and 400Hz frequency converter formats. The latest development includes the Master HP series (100-250kVA) which has an IGBT-based rectifier. This provides an extremely low input harmonic distortion and a high input power factor.

Uninterruptible Power Supply Three Phase output power protection

The Master MPS 10-800kVA UPS series uses on-line technology (VFI) with an isolation transformer on the inverter output. The load is powered continuously by the inverter with a filtered, stabilised and regulated sinewave supply. The input and output EMI filters considerably increase the immunity of the load to mains disturbances and surges, even on bypass.
When the mains fails, the inverter which is constantly powering the load simply draws power from a battery (internal on some models) to provide complete protection. Protection from extended blackouts can be achieved using battery extension packs or a combination of battery extension packs and a generator.

Compatibility and Efficiency

Master MPS has been designed for maximum generator and MV/LV transformer compatibility. The UPS has a progressive rectifier start-up and the option to reduce battery charging current during recharge periods. In addition overall efficiency has been increased with system loss reductions achieved over traditional UPS in the transformer windings and power factor correction assemblies, and the reduction of current harmonics generated by the UPS itself.
Additional battery extension packs allow the standard battery runtime to be extended up to several hours.

Battery Management Technology

Master MPS UPS use a newly developed battery management technology to help them achieve maximum battery performance and prolonged design life. Specific features of the new battery management technology include:
  • Battery charging is set on two voltage levels to optimise recharge current and reduce recharge times
  • Temperature compensated charging with protection against deep discharges to reduce ageing and prolong battery life
  • Use of a charge blocking system to reduce electrolyte consumption and further lengthen life of sealed lead acid (VRLA) batteries
  • Automatic battery testing to provide advanced indication of potential battery failures
Master MPS is also compatible with a variety of battery technologies: open-vase lead acid, AGM, and Gel VRLA and NiCad batteries.

Flexibility, Parallel Running, System Expansion

Master MPS has been designed for a number of applications from IT to the most demanding electrical environments. With a wide range of accessories (UGS - UPS Group Synchroniser and PSJ - Parallel Systems Joiner), Master MPS can be configured into a suitable architecture for the most critical load applications. The UPS can be operated in parallel mode (redundancy and power) configurations, and are compatible with the Riello UPS UGS and PSJ devices to achieve further system resilience.

Ease of Installation

Master MPS has been designed for compact environments. Its foot print is extremely small - only 0.64 sq. m. for the 200kVA UPS). Master MPS also provide easy front access for maintenance to the important assemblies and a built-in control panel for system setting and measurement. Ventilation is provided by fans in the top of the UPS cabinet which draw air vertically up through the system. This further helps to reduce the amount of room the UPS requires in an installation as it can be put against a wall – no rear access is required.

Advanced Communication

Each Master MPS has a mains adapter slot; ESD contact (Emergency Switching Device) for use with remote Emergency Power Off switches and optional remote mimic panel (LED or LCD). Master MPS is supplied with PowerShield software as standard and can be remotely monitored using the TeleNetguard monitoring system from anywhere in the world. Additional remote monitoring can be achieved using PowerNetGuard on Wide Area Networks or the with text alerts for site problems, and the range of NetMan SNMP interfaces and MultiCom adapters and desktop monitoring panels such as Multipanel available.

MULTI DIALOG 60-80kVA - MDT 3/3 series

The Riello UPS Multi Dialog Uninterruptible Power Supply range is the ideal solution for computer and telecoms users wanting a flexible multiple operating format power system with advanced communications features.

Uninterruptible Power Supply with multiple operating modes

The Multi Dialog Uninterruptible Power Supply series UPS uses double conversion on-line technology (VFI) and has several other operating mode options. Multi Dialog AF systems incorporate an harmonic filter to achieve less than 4% harmonic distortion and a near perfect sinewave absorption from the mains.
In on-line mode the load is powered continuously by the inverter to remove sags, surges and brownouts, through EMI filters to suppress transients, spikes and electrical noise. Even on bypass the load is routed through the filters so that the load is not connected to raw mains.
When the mains fails, the inverter which is constantly powering the load simply draws power from the internal battery to provide complete protection.

UPS Operating Modes

As well as the its on-line operating mode, Multi Dialog can operate in:
  • Economy Mode: uses Line Interactive (VI) technology to power less critical loads from the mains supply for certain periods. The function can be set from the front panel keypad or remotely using software
  • Smart Active: if the mains supply is out of range, the UPS will power the load from the inverter as an On-line UPS. When the mains supply returns to within range again, the UPS will monitor this for a certain period before selecting Line Interactive operation
  • Standby/Off: for security applications like emergency lighting where the UPS is switched on but the loads are powered through the bypass supply. When the mains fails or falls outside a preset range the inverter automatically powers the load. This operation is similar to that of a standby uninterruptible power supply.
  • Frequency conversion: 50 or 60Hz
  • Automatic Voltage Stabiliser: voltage stabilisation with the inverter and battery completely disabled.

Extended Runtimes

As the inverter is rated for continuous operation this type of uninterruptible power supply can be used to support large loads for long runtimes up to and over 7 hours or more in duration. This can be achieved using battery extension packs that connect in series to the rear panel connector on the UPS and/or a generator. When battery extension packs are used these may have their own mains powered chargers to maintain a reasonable recharge time of the complete battery set. For larger loads consider the Master Plus.
Whatever the runtime installed there should be sufficient time for the protected computer systems to be shutdown in an orderly manner using the PowerShield software, supplied as standard, for Windows 95, 98, 2000, 2003, Me, XP, Mac OSx, 9.x, Linux NT 4.0 operating systems. Sentinel Dual is the high density version of the Sentinel Pro range of double-conversion on-line UPS. Sentinel Dual is designed to power critical loads such as servers, storage systems, telephone equipment, medical systems and industrial applications; and is ideal for Blade servers with an input power factor close to unity (1).
Designed with the environment and efficiency in mind, the Sentinel Dual is part of the Riello ECO Line of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), and achieves an on-line operating efficiency of 92%
The flexible and functional design of the Sentinel Dual allows the UPS to be used as a tower unit, or by simply rotating the mimic panel, it can be used within a rackmount cabinet, taking up only 2U in height.
Available models include 1000VA, 1500VA, 2200VA and 3000VA, and incorporates a 'Power-Off' function found in other Riello ECO Line UPS.

Extended Runtimes

For applications requiring longer runtimes, Sentinel Dual can be installed with battery extension packs (ER models) which also include additional battery boost chargers.
